Launching into 2009 - good grief 2009 - where is my life going? The first event of the New Year as mentioned before is the Holiday Competition on Jan9th but two weeks later on the 23rd, Chichester Film& Video Makers will be traveling up to share a50:50 evening with us. We will be hoping to be reunited with our old friends and previous members of EC&VS, Pam & Keith Baker. Pam & Keith have become to represent the real backbone of Chichester F&VM and so it will be especially nice to see them again. The long awaited and previously deferred Video Experience Evening is now scheduled for FEBRUARY 27th. This is all being organized by John Green and involves a practical hands-on demonstration of editing techniques. There will be no sitting on hands that night. If all goes as previously planned, we will be using a number of individual laptop computers loaded with software to edit some video clips compiled by John and you will be asked to edit them into a logical sequence. Should be good for a bit of fun. First the bad news; we are not going to win the inter-club Triangle competition this year. The reason being is that we will not be taking part as we are playing host to the other three clubs who will. Orpington, Spring Park and Shooters Hill clubs will be trekking down to us on MARCH 13th. The good news is that we will be providing the venue, the projection, the judges and the refreshments. We just sit back and watch the other three do battle and then present the Triangle Trophy (renovated by John Green) to the club that our judges have deemed to be the winners by producing the best programme of films. All films entered for our various competitions have to be judged and commented on. We haven't decided which club to send them off to yet but by this time in the club calendar they should have all been returned with the comments in sealed envelopes. The Club's films officer (me) will be in the know as to who the winners and runners up are, but I will be keeping the information close to my chest. This finals list is then jumbled up foray grand showing at FOTY (Film of the Year) on MARCH 27th. The audience will then be asked to vote on what they think made the best use of sound and ultimately (not necessarily the same film) the best film of the year. Even then the results will be kept under wraps until Wednesday April 22nd when all is revealed and awards presented at the Prize Presentation Dinner. Details of venue and menu will be posted later on. But that is jumping the gun a bit as there is another meeting before then. It happens to be APRIL 3rd when we have the Friends and Family Night. This is the night when we invite our friends and family members to see what were the front runners in the previous year. We hope to be inviting people from the various organizations that we either have presented shows to or filmed during some of our projects. Before entering into the summer period we inevitably come to the Annual General Meeting where you are invited to air your views, whinge, rave, or make your suggestions known as to how we can improve the club. Whatever you have to say we look forward to seeing you there. From here onwards meetings are kept down to once a month and the first one; MAY 8th A Natter & Nibble, is when we discuss what we will be doing for the next two meetings. These are nominated as Studio Evenings, JUNE 12th and JULY 10th. We really try to do something practical here with, hopefully, something to show for our efforts at the end of the day. AUGUST 14th Review of Studio Evenings. This should be called review of summer projects as the club is very likely to be in the throws of a club production of some sort. The evening is very useful to oversee the various states of progress on the different projects having been undertaken on behalf of the club. That just about wraps it all up really. So what do you think of the pattern - does it go with the shoes?
