The EPSOM CINE & VIDEO SOCIETY owes its roots to cinematography but realising its future lies in the development of videography as a popular hobby, decided to take on board the new medium and attract new members.
The society is keen to expand its membership and encourage the making of movies. We would hope to create an environment in which the inexperienced as well as the more practised can show movies that even a complete stranger would find entertaining.
Throughout the season, movie competitions are held culminating in a
grand Film Of The Year competition (FOTY) whereby winners and runners-up of the various categories are revealed and as the title suggests awards are given to the best film of the year and also to the best use of sound.
Generally speaking our programme consists of, as well as the various
competitions, member's film nights, inter-club competitions and visits
from speakers and other clubs. Occasionally evenings are given over
to the practical side and advice is given on such things as editing
and adding sound etc., also members are encouraged to share the benefit of their experiences of equipment on a personal basis with other members. Regular informal meetings also take place whereby members are able to discuss and resolve problem solving issues.
During the summer months we attempt to make a club movie. From September through to May we try to meet on the 2nd & 4th Friday of the month depending on the availability of the hall. During the summer months when many members disappear on holidays the meetings are reduced to once a month. In the month of December we hold a Christmas party where friends and relatives are invited to a relaxed and jolly atmosphere.
We invite you to join our happy band of movie makers now or come along to any of our advertised club evenings completely without obligation and
EXPLORE THE WORLD OF AMATEUR MOVIE MAKING.
